112 Ocean Ave in Amityville, New York. A house made famous for causing the Lutz family to flee from it after living there 26 days. A house made famous in books and movies. But what is the story behind the story. While the Lutz's experience may have been traumatic for the DeFeo family, the house was truly that of horror. On November 13, 1974 Ronald DeFeo, Jr shot his parents and siblings as they slept in the home. He was subsequently sentenced to 6 life sentences in prison. The murders were odd as no one in the neighborhood heard multiple shots but it was truly DeFeo Jr's actions after the murders that was truly mystifying. He told multiple different accounts of how the murders occurred, even at one point inventing a new life for him in New Jersey.
